The Golden Mandate Movement (GMM), one of the fastest-growing socio-political organisations in Akwa Ibom State, has declared its unwavering support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Senate President, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, and candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made on Saturday July 4, 2026, during the official inauguration of the movement at the Ati Annang International Secretariat, Ikot Ekpene, where political leaders, party stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, women organisations and thousands of supporters gathered in what observers described as one of the largest political assemblies in the senatorial district in recent times.
Speaking at the event, the Grand Patron of the movement and Akwa Ibom State Secretary of the APC, Envoy Nsentip Akpabio, commended members of the organisation across polling units, wards, local government areas and the state for their dedication, selfless service and commitment to the ideals of grassroots mobilisation and community development.
He explained that beyond political engagement, the Golden Mandate Movement would champion humanitarian interventions and community development initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people, while strengthening support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the administration of Governor Umo Eno, the leadership of Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio and the electoral success of the APC in the 2027 general elections.
In a major highlight of the event, Envoy Akpabio announced the establishment of the Golden Mandate Movement Educational Endowment Fund, an initiative designed to provide financial support for brilliant but indigent students in tertiary institutions. He immediately flagged off the programme with the presentation of educational grants worth Five Million Naira to outstanding students drawn from across Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
According to him, investing in education remains one of the most sustainable ways of building future leaders and empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Earlier, the International President of the movement, Dr. Anthony Leo Umana, KSM, described the organisation as a people-oriented socio-political and charitable movement committed to promoting sustainable development through grassroots empowerment, stakeholder engagement and impactful community-based initiatives.
He stated that the vision of the Golden Mandate Movement is to become a leading platform for political mobilisation, social intervention and community service, driven by integrity, inclusiveness and the collective aspirations of the people.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the Inauguration Planning Committee, Sir Emmanuel Ekong, described the inauguration as a historic milestone in the evolution of the movement, noting that GMM already has functional structures across polling units, wards and the ten local government areas of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
He explained that the overwhelming acceptance and rapid expansion of the organisation necessitated its formal inauguration following its successful registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and other relevant regulatory authorities.
The Chairman of the occasion and Member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, who was represented by Barrister Edet Inyangidem, applauded the leadership of the movement for its visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to grassroots development, assuring members of his continued support for the organisation’s lofty objectives.
Goodwill messages poured in from prominent political leaders and dignitaries, including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, represented by the Chairman of Ika Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Utibe Nwoko; the Provost of the College of Medical Laboratory Science, Prof. Nkereuwem Etukudoh; the Member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, Hon. Prince Ukpong Akpabio; as well as chairmen of Etim Ekpo, Essien Udim and Obot Akara Local Government Areas, Mr. Gideon Uwa, Lady Dorothy Udom Ekpoudom and Mr. Aniekpeno Mkpanang respectively. Others included Noble Lady Iniobong Oton, Sir Monday Ebong Uko and several notable personalities from within and outside the senatorial district.
The speakers unanimously congratulated members of the Golden Mandate Movement on its successful inauguration, describing the organisation as a formidable platform made up of credible men and women committed to promoting good governance, sustainable political development and effective grassroots mobilisation.
They particularly commended Envoy Nsentip Akpabio for instituting the Educational Endowment Fund, describing the initiative as a strategic investment in human capital development and a demonstration of genuine commitment to youth empowerment and academic excellence.

The colourful inauguration ceremony was further enlivened by captivating cultural performances and traditional displays, including the famous Ekpo Ikpe Annang masquerade, Ukokpan cultural dance, Nnabor dance troupe and other indigenous performances, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Annang people and bringing the event to a memorable close.
