As businesses across Africa embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has emphasized that digital transformation must go hand in hand with workplace protection and social security.
Speaking as Special Guest at the launch of the ESBC–InnoPower LLC (USA) Free MSMEs AI Master Training Programme at the UN House, Abuja, the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, described MSMEs as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, accounting for about 96% of businesses and providing livelihoods for millions of Nigerians.
He noted that while AI presents enormous opportunities for growth and competitiveness, sustainable business success depends on protecting the workforce.
“Digital transformation and workplace protection are not separate conversations—they are the same conversation.”
Mr. Faleye urged entrepreneurs to embrace innovation while investing in occupational safety, employee welfare and social protection, stressing that resilient businesses are built by combining technology with responsibility.
He also reaffirmed NSITF’s commitment to supporting businesses through stronger partnerships, awareness and effective implementation of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme as enterprises expand across the ECOWAS region.
The programme, organised by the ECOWAS Small Business Coalition in partnership with InnoPower LLC (USA) and UNDP, aims to equip MSMEs with AI skills to thrive in the digital economy.
