The Bayelsa State Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unanimously adopted President Bola Tinubu as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
The party took this decision yesterday at a combined meeting of the state expanded caucus and 100th State Executive Committee held in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The decision was taken by the George Turnah-led Bayelsa PDP, which is part of the Rainbow Coalition, as earlier directed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Turnah said the support is a pay back to President Tinubu for supporting Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP in 2011.
“President Bola Tinubu supported our president, Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 so it’s a our turn as a party to pay back in kind,” Turnah said.
Our correspondent reports that the SEC also passed a vote of confidence in the FCT Minister as the national leader of the opposition party.
Turnah also commended the leader of the Bayelsa PDP, Great Joshua Maclver, for his immense support to the party.
The meeting was attended by party leaders, executives and faithful across the eight Local Government Areas of the state.
