Akwa Ibom at 39: NDDC Board Member Seeks Sustained Development, Backs Gov Eno
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reaffirmed its partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Government on infrastructure, youth empowerment, healthcare, education, and economic growth, as the state marks its 39th anniversary.
Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, the state’s representative on the NDDC Governing Board, disclosed this in a anniversary message on Sunday, describing the state’s progress since creation in 1987 as remarkable.
“Thirty-nine years ago, our founding fathers dared to dream of a state where our people would thrive and shape their own destiny,” Nkono said. “Today, that dream has been validated.”
He credited successive administrations for building on the state’s founding vision, and commended Governor Umo Eno for what he called a “godly, purposeful, inclusive and people-oriented” leadership style.
Nkono said the commission was working with the state government to close infrastructural gaps, create opportunities for youths, and improve healthcare and education.
He wished the governor continued wisdom and strength, and prayed for the state’s continued growth, peace, and prosperity.
