Osun 2026:IGP Disu Meets CSOs, Assures Adequate Security for Osun Election

Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has met with representatives of civil society organisations to address security concerns ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

The CSOs, led by Auwal Musa Rafsanjani of CISLAC, highlighted key concerns including voter safety, political violence, misinformation and the participation of vulnerable groups in the electoral process.

Disu assured the delegation that the issues raised would be given due consideration, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professionalism, neutrality and impartiality throughout the election.

The IGP also disclosed that adequate police personnel would be deployed to polling units, with particular attention to the needs of persons with disabilities.

He urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure a peaceful, credible and orderly election, while encouraging continued collaboration between the police and civil society organisations through the exchange of credible information.
