Speaking on The Podcast Network, the Galala crooner said the accident damaged his spine and kept him off his feet for about three years.

According to him, the crash happened before the assassination attempts he later faced.

Showkey said Akpabio was among the first to respond when it happened.

He added that the former Akwa Ibom governor helped him get to the hospital and stayed involved throughout his treatment.

“My spine failed. I could not walk for 3 years. I had a car accident. It was before the assassination attempts. When I had that car accident, the person who first came to my rescue was Godswill Akpabio,” he said.

“He helped me to go to the hospital, and I was in hospital for 3 years. He played a lot of roles. I knew him before he became a commissioner, and he is a true friend. When that thing happened to me, if not for Godswill Akpabio, I would not have walked again.”

The veteran artiste said he and Akpabio have known each other for decades, dating back to before the Senate President became a commissioner.

He described him as a trusted friend whose support was crucial during one of the toughest periods of his life.

Showkey admitted he once feared he might never walk again but Akpabio’s intervention gave him access to the medical care that aided his lengthy recovery.
